Beliefs and Values

Connect ~ Engage ~ Grow
Our Purpose
Picture
God calls us to be a welcoming and inclusive gathering who follow Jesus and reflect the love, mercy, and hope of our faith to Queen Anne and beyond.
Our Values
Picture

Love: the all-encompassing affection from God to us, and to one another
Mercy: Compassion and kindness shown to someone who may not deserve it, or does not have power.

Inclusion: the act of inviting and welcoming someone in
Creativity: expression and imagination producing something new
Faith: Confidence, Trust, and Belief in God

Beliefs
  • We believe that God is good, full of grace, mercy, and love
  • We believe that God's love for the world is expressed by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God's only Son.
  • We believe that God's love communicated to us through the Holy Spirit empowers us to love God, our neighbors and ourselves.

Our Visioning Process

In February 2019, we began with sharing about spiritual practices and how we engage our faith, what it is we do well, and where we need to grow in connecting with Christ.

In March,  we went through a Values Workshop and chose these five words: Love, Mercy, Inclusion, Creativity, and Faith (see above for definitions of these values). Pastor Mindi preached on each of these values May 5th through June 2nd.

In May, we worked together with inspiration from the Holy Spirit and wrote our Purpose Statement:
"God calls us to be a welcoming and inclusive gathering who follow Jesus and reflect the love, mercy, and hope of our faith to Queen Anne and beyond."

In June 2019, we set three goals for 2020-2021: to plan seasonal fellowship opportunities, to create educational opportunities for all ages, and to invite and train leaders.

We affirmed our Purpose, Values, and Goals at our Annual Meeting of the Congregation on June 30th, 2019

Continuing our Visioning, we will engage in conversations about how we use our resources for God's vision and purpose. We will explore the way we worship, what we do for fellowship and service, and how we connect with our community--in other words, we are exploring how we live out our faith in Christ Jesus.

In this period of Covid-19, in September 2020, we reaffirmed our purpose and values through Church Chats held online, and set a new goal of a once-a-month outdoor in-person gathering. See our Announcements on our Home Page or look at our Calendar. Also, be sure to check out our Ministries--many are continuing online, and our Missions outreach to homeless youth through New Horizons Youth Ministries is growing!
